ChessMachina Accessibility
ChessMachina is being developed with accessibility as a goal. This page describes the current development status honestly: confirmed properties are named, everything else is marked as in development or under verification.
German and English
The app interface is available in German and English.
VoiceOver
VoiceOver support for board squares, pieces, and core controls is planned and currently in development or under verification.
Labeled board squares and pieces
Clear labeling of squares and pieces for assistive technologies is planned but not yet fully confirmed for the current development status.
Dynamic Type outside the board
Adapting text sizes outside the board display is planned and still being verified.
Sufficient touch targets
Core controls are intended to have sufficiently large tap areas. This is not yet fully verified for the current status.
Status not conveyed by color alone
Important states such as the last move, check, or game end are intended to not rely on color alone. This property is planned and still being verified.
High-contrast board
A high-contrast board design is planned but not yet fully confirmed for the current development status.
Reduce Motion
Support for the iOS Reduce Motion setting is planned and still being verified.
Light and Dark Mode
Support for the light and dark system appearance is planned and still being verified.
