BrowserCut is live: Free video editor in the browser

BrowserCut is now available at browsercut.com. It is a full video editor that runs entirely in the browser. No installation, no account, no upload to external servers.

The project consists of 145 files with over 36,000 lines of code and 34 automated tests. The security rating is 10/10, as is the GDPR rating.

The 13 editor tools cover everything you need for daily video editing: cutting, trimming, merging, speed adjustment, rotation, mirroring, text overlays, subtitles, audio editing, crop, filters, watermarks and batch processing.

For social media there are pre-made presets for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and more. You select the format and BrowserCut automatically adjusts resolution and aspect ratio.

Technically, BrowserCut uses WebCodecs and FFmpeg.wasm for video processing. Large files are processed through the Origin Private File System (OPFS), which enables smooth editing even with long videos.

Next up: An optional Pro version with advanced features and AI powered subtitle generation.
