The web app converts in both directions: You can convert Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, CSV, HTML and JSON files into clean, AI-optimized Markdown. And vice versa, OfficeToAI turns Markdown and AI output back into professional Office documents.

The tool fills an important gap in the AI workflow. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini work much better with Markdown than with Office formats. DOCX to Markdown converts Word documents using mammoth.js and Turndown into GitHub Flavored Markdown. Headings, lists, tables, bold and italic text are correctly translated.

Markdown to DOCX generates professional Word documents with correct headings, formatting and page breaks. You can choose from 10 different templates including Business Report, Consulting Proposal, Legal Document and Academic Paper.

XLSX to Markdown supports multi-sheet Excel files. Each sheet is displayed as its own section with table. Numbers are correctly formatted and Excel date formats are automatically detected.

PDF to Markdown uses pdf.js for extraction. The engine detects headings based on font size and groups text blocks into meaningful paragraphs.

PPTX to Markdown extracts slide content including speaker notes. Each slide is displayed as its own section.

Additionally there are converters for CSV/TSV, HTML and JSON in both directions.

The Smart Paste function automatically detects the source of pasted content: whether pasted from Word, Google Docs, Notion, ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. The cleanup and conversion adapts to the source.

The AI Optimizer adds optional frontmatter, sets structure markers and reduces tokens. For RAG pipelines, documents can be automatically split into chunks at headings.

OfficeToAI is the only converter that covers both directions: Office to AI and AI to Office. Most tools only convert in one direction.

The application is installable as a Progressive Web App (PWA) and works offline. All conversions run in the browser with no backend server.
