OfficeToAI

OfficeToAI is a bidirectional converter between Office documents and Markdown. You can convert Word, Excel and PowerPoint files into clean Markdown and vice versa.

The tool is especially useful when you want to prepare documents for AI models (which process Markdown much better than Office formats) or when you want to turn AI generated Markdown output back into professional Office documents.

All conversion takes place in the browser. No file is uploaded.

You load an Office document into the browser or paste Markdown text.

When converting from Office to Markdown, OfficeToAI analyzes the XML structure of the document and translates each element into the corresponding Markdown format. Headings become # headings, bold text becomes **bold**, tables become Markdown tables and so on.

When converting from Markdown to Office, the reverse happens. The Markdown text is parsed and converted into a correctly formatted Office file that you can open in Word, Excel or PowerPoint.

The conversion also handles complex structures like nested lists, multi line table cells and embedded code blocks.

OfficeToAI is useful for anyone who regularly switches between Office and AI workflows.

Consultants and analysts convert client reports (Word) to Markdown, have them summarized or analyzed by an AI model and convert the result back into a formatted Word document.

Technical writers often maintain documentation in Markdown (e.g. in Git repositories). When a document needs to go to a client as a Word file, OfficeToAI handles the conversion.
