WakeGate

An alarm where stopping it is only the beginning.

Development stage: Native iPhone app in developmentPlatform: iPhone appApp Store status: In development

Instead of only tapping Stop, you can connect WakeGate to a movement challenge, an NFC tag, or a combination of both. The app is in development and is not yet available on the App Store.

01

Why WakeGate

A regular alarm can often be dismissed in seconds. WakeGate can place an intentional task between the alarm and finishing it — making the next step more than a tap on Stop.

02

How it works

1. Create an alarm: set time, repeat, sound, and snooze.

2. Choose a wake-up task: select movement, NFC, or a combination.

3. Get up and finish the task: progress is processed locally in WakeGate.

03

Alarms that fit your rhythm

WakeGate uses native AlarmKit alarms for one-time, daily, weekday, weekend, and custom weekday repeats. You can set a snooze duration or turn snooze off, choose 12- or 24-hour time, and start a new alarm from the current device time. Choose between the system default alarm sound and WakeGate sounds.

04

Exercise missions

WakeGate currently supports push-ups and squats. During an Exercise Mission, the app assesses the required movement with AVFoundation and Apple Vision body-pose processing on the device. No videos are saved and no images are uploaded. The front and rear camera can be used. This is not fitness or health diagnosis.

05

NFC missions

Place a compatible NFC tag in the bathroom, kitchen, or another location, for example. To finish, scan the matching tag. WakeGate supports NDEF-compatible tags; NTAG213, NTAG215, and NTAG216 are typical examples. Empty tags can be set up, written tags can be overwritten after explicit confirmation, and existing WakeGate tags can be imported. Tags can be replaced, removed locally, or — if writable — cleared in their NDEF area on user action. WakeGate does not use a hardware UID as identity and does not collect location.

06

Combine tasks

You can combine Exercise and NFC. Do squats first, then scan the NFC tag in the bathroom — or make either task sufficient to finish. The combination stays understandable and can fit your morning.

07

Your wake history

WakeGate shows past wake events, snooze use and snooze minutes, plus the outcome of the wake-up process and available mission details locally. It is an overview of your morning, not fitness tracking or health analysis.

08

Widgets and system integration

WakeGate can offer a Lock Screen Live Activity with a snooze countdown, Dynamic Island on supported devices, a Control Center control, New Alarm Control, and Lock Screen and Action Button controls where iOS and your device support these surfaces. AlarmKit handles the actual iOS alarm. After it is stopped, WakeGate can open a mission and play its own mission sound.

09

Your morning stays on your iPhone

WakeGate needs no account and no custom backend. No analytics. No tracking. No ads. Alarm data, missions, NFC assignments, and wake history stay local where confirmed by the current app code. Camera pose processing is local too. Find details in the full Privacy Policy.

10

Your WakeGate

WakeGate is available in German and English and follows native iOS design. System, Light, and Dark mode, eight accent colors, and 12- and 24-hour time help you set up the app your way.

11

Emergency code

If a mission cannot be completed, an Emergency Code flow is available. It is an intentional way out within the app, not a safety or emergency feature.
