How do I start a voice recording?
Open JotCue and tap the recording control in the inbox, or use the assigned Action Button or app shortcut, if set up.
App support
JotCue is a native iPhone app for quickly capturing voice and text input, currently in development. Find help with recording, transcription, system integration, and Pro here.
Open JotCue and tap the recording control in the inbox, or use the assigned Action Button or app shortcut, if set up.
Open iOS Settings for JotCue and enable microphone access. Without this permission, voice recording cannot start.
Local transcription requires a supported device and iOS version. Check whether a required speech model is still being prepared by iOS, then try again.
iOS can provide supported speech resources in the background. Wait until preparation is complete and make sure a network connection is available for iOS to download the resource.
After a successfully verified transcription, the audio file can be deleted automatically. If transcription fails or is interrupted, the recording is kept for recovery. You can also choose to keep recordings permanently.
On a supported iPhone, open iOS Settings, choose Action Button, then Shortcut, and select the JotCue “Capture Thought” shortcut.
Check the assignment in iOS Settings. Depending on lock or system state, iOS may require unlocking or an additional interaction; a fully hidden start is not guaranteed in every situation.
iOS enforces system boundaries here that JotCue cannot bypass. Behavior can vary by device, iOS version, and state.
While a recording is active, JotCue can show recording status and a timer through a Live Activity on the Lock Screen. Transcript or note content is not shown there.
Check whether the widget was correctly added to your Home Screen or Lock Screen. iOS updates widgets according to its own system rules.
Open iOS Settings for Control Center and add the available JotCue control, provided your device and iOS version support it.
Dated tasks can trigger reminders locally on your device. JotCue uses local notifications for this and no push backend.
Choose a photo deliberately through the system picker. JotCue stores a local, optimized copy; unnecessary metadata is removed and the original stays unchanged.
The camera opens only after your deliberate action, for example to attach a photo directly to an entry.
Select text, a URL, or a photo in another app, open the iOS share sheet, and choose JotCue. Only the shared content is imported.
Use the backup function in JotCue to create a local .jotcuebackup file with your data and attachments. Audio can optionally be included.
Select the desired .jotcuebackup file through the restore function in JotCue. Restoring happens locally on the device.
Assign notes and tasks to a project or thread within the app. Free includes one active project and one active thread; JotCue Pro unlocks unlimited projects and threads.
Pro unlocks, among other things, unlimited projects, unlimited threads, and advanced organization features. Optional JotCue Pro features are offered through the App Store.
Use the restore function in JotCue to restore purchases through StoreKit with your Apple ID.
Managing and canceling a JotCue Pro subscription is done through your device's Apple ID settings.
Monthly and yearly Pro are auto-renewing subscriptions through Apple. Lifetime is a one-time purchase through the App Store that unlocks Pro permanently.
