Privacy Policy for JotCue

This policy describes processing by the JotCue app. Processing when visiting tommsel.com, including hosting and any website services, is described in the general tommsel.com privacy policy.

JotCue is locally oriented. The app uses no user account and no custom backend service for your personal content. JotCue does not transmit your notes, tasks, recordings, or attachments to its own servers.

Microphone access is required for voice capture and is granted by you. Recordings are first stored locally on the device and serve as the source for transcription and for possible recovery. After a successfully verified transcription, the audio file can be deleted automatically. If transcription fails, a required speech model is missing, or the process is interrupted, the recording is kept for recovery. You can also choose to keep recordings permanently.

JotCue uses supported Apple speech technologies for on-device transcription. JotCue does not operate its own speech servers and does not use external AI or its own cloud transcription for your recordings. iOS may use Apple system services to provide supported speech resources; this processing by Apple is separate from JotCue's own processing.

Content you create in the inbox, as a note or task, as well as projects, threads, and categories, is stored and processed locally on your device.

You choose photos deliberately through the system picker (PhotosPicker); JotCue does not require blanket access to your entire photo library for this. JotCue stores a local, optimized copy of the selected photo and removes unnecessary metadata; location/GPS metadata is not carried over into this local copy. The original in your photo library is not modified. The camera is used only after a deliberate user action.

Links you save in JotCue are stored locally on your device. By default, JotCue does not crawl, automatically fetch Open Graph data, download favicons, or automatically analyze the linked website. A link is opened only after your deliberate action.

Through the iOS share sheet, you can deliberately hand off text, URLs, or photos to JotCue. JotCue processes only the content you explicitly shared.

Reminders for dated tasks are scheduled as local notifications on your device. JotCue does not operate its own push backend for this.

Widgets, Lock Screen widgets, Live Activities, App Intents/app shortcuts, and the Action Button assignment access content stored locally in JotCue and are provided through iOS system interfaces. During an active recording, a Live Activity can show recording status and a timer; transcript or note content is not shown on the Lock Screen. You assign JotCue to the Action Button yourself in iOS Settings; JotCue does not change the Action Button assignment itself.

JotCue offers a local, versioned backup format (.jotcuebackup) that includes data and attachments; audio can optionally be included. Restoring a backup happens locally on the device. JotCue does not operate its own cloud backup service.

Purchases for JotCue Pro are processed through Apple's App Store and StoreKit. JotCue does not operate its own payment system and does not receive payment data such as credit card numbers. Apple's processing is governed by Apple's own privacy information.

JotCue uses no app analytics, tracking, or advertising.

Local data can be deleted through app functions and settings and by removing the app from the device. Available iOS options can differ.
