Keyvessa Support

Keyvessa is a private iPhone app for photos, videos and files that are kept protected on your device. The app is in development and not yet available on the App Store. This page answers the most common questions and shows how to reach us.

What is Keyvessa?

A native iPhone app with a private, locally encrypted library for photos, videos and files. It is meant for people who want to keep private content separate and protected on their iPhone.

Do I need an account?

No. Keyvessa has no user account and no registration.

Where is my content stored?

Locally on your device, in an encrypted private library. There is no Tommsel backend and no cloud database for your personal content.

Are my files uploaded?

Keyvessa does not transmit your personal content to Tommsel servers. When you import through the iOS picker, iOS itself may load content from an iCloud or Files provider you use. That is an iOS function, not a Keyvessa function.

How do I import content?

Through the iOS photo or file picker. You decide which content you add to Keyvessa. Keyvessa does not automatically search your photos or files.

How do I export content?

Export and sharing only happen when you trigger them deliberately. The exported copy leaves the protected area of Keyvessa. The privacy and security terms of the chosen location or service apply to it.

What is the recovery set?

Keyvessa generates the recovery information your vault needs locally. With the recovery set you can keep it outside the device. Which formats the release will include is not final yet. Treat a recovery set like a password: whoever holds it may be able to gain access to your vault.

What happens if I lose my recovery set?

Tommsel does not store a copy of your recovery secret and cannot retrieve lost recovery information from a user account. There is no server-side password reset. Whether you can regain access without a recovery set depends on whether your vault is still accessible on the device. Back up your recovery set in good time.

How do I delete content?

With the delete functions in the app. Exported copies are outside Keyvessa and must be deleted separately at their location. Originals in Photos or Files remain until you delete them there.

What happens when I delete the app?

The local app data is removed from the device as far as iOS provides for app data. Therefore export content you want to keep beforehand. Whether and how a vault can be restored with a recovery set after reinstalling will be described at release. Exported copies and iOS device or iCloud backups are separate from the app.

Which file types does Keyvessa support?

Keyvessa is designed for photos, videos and files, including PDF documents that are displayed locally. The complete list of supported formats will only be final at release.

How do I report a problem?

By email to the address in the contact block below. Include the device model, the iOS version and a short description. Please do not send private photos, videos, files, passwords, recovery information or QR codes.

How do I report a security issue?

By email to the same address, with the subject Security. Describe the problem without attaching recovery keys, QR codes, passwords or private vault content. More is on the Keyvessa security page.
