Privacy Policy for Cyleniva

This privacy policy applies specifically to the product Cyleniva.

1. Data controller and contact

The controller for the Cyleniva app is Tom Silas Helmke, c/o Online-Impressum #4746, Europaring 90, 53757 Sankt Augustin, Germany. Contact: tshfm78@gmail.com.

2. Scope

This policy describes processing by the Cyleniva iOS app, a personal journal for cycle, symptoms, contraception, medication, and daily entries on iPhone. It describes Cyleniva and not the website. Visiting tommsel.com itself, including hosting, server logs, and website services, is governed by the general tommsel.com privacy policy.

Cyleniva is in development. This policy describes the current product status and will be checked against the final state of the app before release.

3. Local first, no account, no proprietary cloud

Cyleniva is locally oriented. The app uses no Cyleniva user account, no proprietary health data server, no proprietary server database, and no proprietary cloud sync. Your entries are processed on your iPhone. The provider does not receive them and has no access to them unless you send them to the provider yourself.

4. Data you record locally

Cyleniva stores on your device what you enter yourself. Depending on your use, this includes: start, end, and flow of bleeding, spotting and intermenstrual bleeding, symptoms with intensity, notes, time and duration, contraception methods, intake schedules and actual intakes, medication, stress, sleep, illness, travel, personal events, life phases, and measurements, as well as settings, templates, and reminders.

This information can be health data and therefore belongs to specially protected categories of data. You decide which details you record.

5. Local storage and protection

The data lives in the app's protected storage area on your iPhone. The protection mechanisms of iOS apply, such as the device lock and the device passcode. Therefore set a device passcode and keep iOS up to date. Anyone who can use your unlocked device may also be able to open the app.

No system is completely secure. Cyleniva can only implement the measures the app and iOS provide.

6. No tracking or advertising SDKs of our own

At the current development status, Cyleniva contains no analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs of its own and shows no advertising. The app builds no user profile for advertising purposes and passes no entries to advertising networks.

7. Local reminders and notifications

For reminders and check ins, Cyleniva uses local notifications from iOS. The app asks for your permission. Reminders are scheduled and delivered on your iPhone, not through a server. You can change the permission at any time in iOS Settings. iOS controls delivery, and the timing can vary. Notification text can appear on the Lock Screen, depending on your iOS settings.

8. Widgets and App Group data

So that widgets can show current information, the app makes the data needed for display available to the widget extension through an App Group. This data exchange stays on your device. A widget on the Home Screen can make information visible that other people looking at your device can see. Keep this in mind when choosing and placing widgets.

9. Optional Apple Health import

Cyleniva can optionally read data from Apple Health. The import is voluntary and read only. In iOS you choose which data types Cyleniva may read, and you can change this permission at any time in Apple Health. Apple Health is an Apple system service. Cyleniva writes no data back and does not pass the data it reads on to the provider.

10. Origin and processing of imported data

Data you import from Apple Health or from a restore file comes from your own records. Cyleniva processes it locally on your iPhone and merges it with your entries or shows it alongside them. Imported data can appear in insights, reports, and exports. How complete and accurate it is depends on the source.

11. Encrypted manual backups and restore

You can manually create an encrypted backup of your data and restore it later, for example on a new iPhone. The backup is a file you create deliberately and store yourself. Cyleniva does not upload it automatically. How the encryption works in detail and which details are needed for restore is shown by the app when you create the backup. Keep those details safe, because without them a backup may not be restorable. Encryption protects the file but does not replace careful handling of it.

12. Data export as JSON or CSV

You can export your original data completely as JSON or CSV. These files are not encrypted and can contain all your entries in plain text. Treat them like confidential documents.

13. PDF reports and chart images

Cyleniva can create PDF reports and charts as images. They are created locally on your iPhone and contain the details you select for the report. These files can also contain health data.

14. Manual sharing and external file providers

You share or save reports, exports, and backups through the iOS share function, for example to Files, iCloud Drive, by email, or with a third party provider. Only then does a file reach the service or recipient you chose, and their terms and privacy notices apply. Local app storage does not mean that a file you deliberately pass on would never be transmitted to an external provider. You decide where it goes.

15. Apple StoreKit and purchase processing

Purchase and payment for Cyleniva Pro (Monthly, Yearly, and Lifetime) run through Apple. Cyleniva uses StoreKit for this. Cyleniva does not enter and does not receive payment details. Apple processes the purchase, subscription management, and restore according to Apple's terms and privacy notices.

16. In app purchases and entitlements

The app checks whether Pro is unlocked using the entitlement that Apple provides through StoreKit. A Pro entitlement is not stored in an account of its own with the provider. You restore purchases in the app through restore with the same Apple ID.

17. Deleting data

You can delete entries, templates, and settings in the app. Removing the app deletes its local data as far as iOS provides for it. You delete exported files, reports, and backups outside the app, for example in Files or iCloud Drive, there yourself. iOS device backups can contain app data, depending on your settings, and you manage them yourself as well. Because the provider does not receive your entries, the provider cannot delete them on request.

18. The tommsel.com website and hosting

When you visit tommsel.com, including hosting, server logs, and any website services, the general tommsel.com privacy policy applies. This processing is separate from processing by the Cyleniva app.

19. Your rights and right to lodge a complaint

Where the legal requirements are met, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection, as well as the right to withdraw consent given, with effect for the future. You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).

20. Contact and privacy requests

You send privacy requests and support questions to tshfm78@gmail.com. Please do not send confidential health data by email unprompted. If you voluntarily send us data, we process it only to answer your request.

21. Changes to this privacy policy

Last updated: October 2026. It refers to the development status of the Cyleniva iOS app at that time. This policy will be updated if Cyleniva features or data processing change, and it will be checked against the final state of the app before release.
