Privacy Policy for Priovue

This privacy policy applies specifically to the product Priovue.

1. Data controller and contact

The controller for the Priovue app is Tom Silas Helmke, c/o Online-Impressum #4746, Europaring 90, 53757 Sankt Augustin, Germany. Contact: tshfm78@gmail.com. The full provider details are in the legal notice.

2. Scope

This policy describes processing by the Priovue iPhone app. It supplements the general tommsel.com privacy policy with the processing inside the app and does not describe the website.

Priovue is in development and not yet available on the App Store. Functions described here that are not implemented yet are to be understood as planned. This policy will be checked against the final behavior of the app before release.

3. Local first, no account, no backend of our own

Priovue uses no Priovue account, no registration, no backend of its own for user data and no user database of its own. Your content is processed locally on your iPhone by default. The provider does not receive it and, at the current status, has no access to it unless you send it to the provider yourself.

4. Data stored locally

Your device stores the content you create in Priovue as well as settings such as language, appearance, colors and reminders. This data lives in the app's protected storage area on your iPhone and is not transmitted by Priovue to servers of its own.

5. Ideas, tasks, projects, goals and identities

Ideas, tasks, projects, goals and identities as well as their connections, priorities, progress values and colors are your personal content. They can contain sensitive information that you enter yourself. You decide what you capture. Priovue does not analyze this content for advertising or profiling purposes.

6. Voice capture and microphone

Voice capture is planned. You start a recording deliberately. The microphone permission is only needed when you use the function, and the app then asks for your permission. Background access is not planned. You can change the permission at any time in iOS Settings.

7. Local speech-to-text processing

Converting speech to text is meant to happen on your device only. No automatic cloud fallback is planned, and no audio files are uploaded for transcription. Which languages are available depends on the device and the iOS version.

8. Temporary pending audio files

A recording is only kept locally as long as processing requires. After successful transcription and safe storage of the resulting entry, the temporary audio file is removed. If transcription fails, a local pending recording can temporarily remain so that the thought is not lost. You can process such a recording again or delete it. Audio does not leave your device in this process.

9. Local AI

Priovue is meant to be able to use local AI later. On compatible Apple devices it can help, for example, with suggestions for sorting, with recognizing related entries, with structuring your own content and with suggestions for relationships between existing items. Processing happens on the device only, through supported Apple functions, where the device and operating system support them. There is no obligation to use AI, and the core functions work without it. This function is planned and not released yet. Suggestions are aids and not binding decisions.

10. Optional iCloud and CloudKit sync

Priovue works locally on the device by default. iCloud is meant to be activatable as an option to sync Priovue data between your own Apple devices or keep it available through Apple's infrastructure. This uses Apple iCloud or CloudKit as a service of Apple, only after you activate it or use the corresponding system function. There is no Tommsel user account and no Tommsel sync backend of its own, and Tommsel does not operate a cloud of its own. A distinction applies between local Priovue storage, the optional processing by Apple iCloud and processing on the website. Apple's own privacy terms apply in addition to processing by Apple. This function is planned and not implemented yet.

11. Widgets and App Group

Widgets are planned for a later version. Once they exist, the app makes the information they need available to the widget extension through an App Group. This data exchange stays on your device. A widget on the Home Screen can make information visible that other people looking at your device can see.

12. Local notifications

If you enable reminders, Priovue uses local notifications from iOS. The app asks for your permission. The notifications are scheduled and delivered on your iPhone, not through a server. You can change the permission at any time in iOS Settings. Whether and when a notification appears depends on the system state.

13. Backup, restore and export

You can create and restore your own backups and export content, including as a PDF or printable overview. Such files are only created when you trigger them deliberately. They can contain personal content. You decide where to put or send a file through the iOS file picker and share function, for example in Files, iCloud Drive, by email or with a third party provider. That service processes the file under its own terms. Priovue does not upload backups and exports automatically. No special encryption of the files is promised.

14. StoreKit and purchases

A Pro offering as an annual subscription and as a lifetime purchase through Apple StoreKit is planned. Purchase, payment, subscription management and restore run through Apple. Priovue does not enter payment details and does not receive them. The app checks whether Pro is unlocked using the purchase entitlement Apple provides. Apple processes purchases under Apple's terms and privacy notices. These offers cannot be purchased yet.

15. No analytics, advertising or tracking

According to the current product specification, Priovue contains no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking and no advertising SDKs, shows no advertising and operates no tracking servers of its own. This statement will be checked against the final app code before release.

16. No external AI

Priovue uses no external AI API and no ChatGPT plugin. Personal content is not automatically transmitted to OpenAI, Google or comparable AI services.

17. Privacy and security

Your data lives in the protected storage area of the iOS app sandbox on your iPhone, and the protection mechanisms of iOS apply, such as the device lock and device passcode. Exports and backups only happen when you trigger them. Speech processing is local. Using Apple iCloud is optional. Priovue does not claim any special encryption beyond iOS. No system is completely secure, and Priovue can only implement the measures the app and iOS provide.

18. Retention and local deletion

Your content stays until you delete it. You can delete entries, projects and goals in the app, as well as pending recordings. Removing the app deletes its local data as far as iOS provides for it. You delete backups, exports and shared files outside the app yourself where you stored them. iOS device backups can contain app data, depending on your settings. With iCloud sync enabled, data can be stored with Apple until it is deleted there. Because the provider does not receive your content, it cannot delete it on request.

19. The tommsel.com website

When you visit tommsel.com, including hosting, server logs and any website services, the general tommsel.com privacy policy applies. This processing is separate from processing by the Priovue app.

20. Your rights and right to lodge a complaint

Where the legal requirements are met, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to withdraw a given consent with effect for the future. You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example with the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW). You send privacy requests to tshfm78@gmail.com. Please do not send complete backups or confidential content by email unprompted.

21. Changes to this privacy policy

Last updated: October 2026. It refers to the development status of Priovue at that time. It will be updated if features or data processing change, and it will be checked against the final state of the app before release.
