Privacy Policy for Pourniva
This privacy policy applies specifically to the product Pourniva.
1. Data controller and contact
The controller for the Pourniva app is Tom Silas Helmke, c/o Online-Impressum #4746, Europaring 90, 53757 Sankt Augustin, Germany. Contact: tshfm78@gmail.com. The full provider details are in the legal notice.
2. Scope and status
These privacy notes apply to the native Pourniva app for iPhone and iPad. Visiting tommsel.com is separate and is described in the general tommsel.com privacy policy.
Pourniva is in development and not yet available on the App Store. This policy describes the current state of development and must be checked again against the final app code before submission to the App Store.
3. No account and no backend of its own
Pourniva uses no user account of its own and no login. There is no backend of its own for personal app data, no server database of its own, no analytics of its own, no advertising tracking and no advertising.
4. Locally stored app data
Depending on use, the following can be stored locally on your device: home bar, ingredients, your own bottles, favorites, the Try later status, the Already made status, collections, mixing history, personal ratings, personal feedback entries, personal notes, personal recipe versions, your own drinks, shopping list, settings, imported recipes and local references to personal photos.
This data is not automatically transmitted to a Tommsel server.
5. Photos and PhotosPicker
Pourniva uses Apple's PhotosPicker for images you deliberately choose. Pourniva does not need to search your entire photo library for this, and only the images you choose are processed.
Pourniva creates optimized local copies: a display version of at most about 2048 px and a thumbnail of about 480 px. Unnecessary EXIF and GPS metadata is not carried over into these copies at the current state of implementation. The original image in Apple Photos is not changed.
6. Sharing and export
Share cards and .drinkrecipe files are created locally on your device. Only when you use the iOS share sheet is content handed over to the destination you choose. From that point on, the chosen service or recipient can process it under its own terms. There is no automatic transmission to Tommsel.
7. Recipe import
Imported .drinkrecipe files are read and validated locally. No external resources are loaded automatically because of an imported recipe.
8. Personal notes
Private notes are not automatically included in share files or share cards.
9. Alcohol and energy calculations
Calculations of pure alcohol and of energy from alcohol take place locally on your device. You can use your own ABV values. These values are user input and are not verified by Tommsel.
10. Network
At the current state, the core functions of Pourniva need no network backend of Tommsel. If you deliberately open an external source, an App Store page or a destination in the share sheet, the terms of the respective service apply.
11. Apple system services
Functions of iOS and Apple system services are to be distinguished from Pourniva's own data processing. Apple may process data under its own terms in connection with the App Store, the operating system, the PhotosPicker and the share sheet. Tommsel has no control over this processing. iOS device or iCloud backups can also contain app data, depending on your system settings.
12. No analytics, advertising or tracking
Pourniva uses no analytics of its own, no tracking, no advertising and no external AI. This statement refers to the app. It will be checked against the final source code, the frameworks used and network access before release.
13. Retention and deletion
Local data generally stays on your device until you delete it with the existing functions of the app or remove the app according to iOS logic. You must delete exported files and externally stored share files separately where you saved them. Shared files are outside Pourniva's control after sharing.
Tommsel does not hold your Pourniva app data, so on the Tommsel side there is no retention period and nothing Tommsel could delete for you. More is on the privacy options page.
14. The tommsel.com website and support by email
When you visit tommsel.com, including hosting and technically necessary server logs, the general tommsel.com privacy policy applies. This processing is separate from processing inside the app.
If you contact us by email voluntarily, your email address and the content of your message are processed to handle the request and for possible follow-up questions. Processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Support emails are separate from the local app data.
15. Your rights and right to lodge a complaint
Where the legal requirements are met, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to withdraw a given consent with effect for the future. You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example with the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW). Because Tommsel does not hold your local app data, Tommsel cannot hand it over. You send requests to tshfm78@gmail.com.
16. Changes to this privacy policy
Last updated: October 30, 2026. Pourniva is in development. This policy refers to the state of development at that time. It will be updated if features or data processing change, and it must be checked again against the final app code before submission to the App Store. It is an editorial draft and has not yet been finally reviewed by a lawyer.
